At present, Clementine.com's collection of site users' information is limited to email addresses only. This is called "Email List Registration." These submitted addresses are not linked to any other personally identifiable information at present. They are used for promotional messages at relatively infrequent intervals, for example, once in 6 to 8 weeks. Users/customers can cancel their email registration at any time, by either returning one of our messages with the word "unsubscribe" in the subject line, or by sending us an email requesting to be removed from the list.

In future Clementines.com will begin to collect more information, when voluntarily provided, about this site's users and customers. We pledge then as now, not to disclose personally identifiable information without prior consent. It is very unlikely that occasions for us to seek such users' permissions will arise. Clementine communicates with its customers and other interested parties only about the retail business activities engaged in at Clementine Shoes, Bags and Accessories, Inc., and at Clementines.com website.

Log Files

It is ordinarily the case that Web hosting companies, including the company where Clementine.com is currently hosted, collect certain technical data incidental to user visits to the website, its individual pages, and links. It is stored by the Host in files called "log files." Clementines.com makes the usual and ordinary uses of such data. It is statistical in nature, and not connected to personally identifiable information under ordinary circumstances. Our policy is to not disclose, sell, or otherwise publish or make publicly available any of such data. Note, however, that as required by law, such data must be made available to law enforcement. Our web host is bound, as Clementines.com is, to cooperate in those circumstances that are lawful enquiries. The "usual uses" of such data, by Clementines, consists of analyzing the usage of its website and the particulars thereof: how much or how often a given website object is accessed/ viewed, for example. Also such information as the identity of referring URL's/domains is among this data. Normally, any analysis of this data takes place in the aggregate, and in no way poses a threat to personal privacy. Users' IP addresses may or may not be recorded, only as required by government entities such as the IRS.

As a matter of course, Clementines.com and Clementine Shoes, Bags and Accessories, Inc. is not responsible for or necessarily aware of the privacy policy and security practices of these other sites. This privacy statement applies only to policies and practices at Clementines.com.

Future

Clementines.com will become a fully functioning electronic store in the near future. At that time, we will be collecting additional user/customer information in connection with orders for merchandise. This document will be updated at that time, but our basic policy will remain in place unchanged. At present, Clementines.com does not make use of any "cookies." When we begin to use cookies, we will provide an understandable explanation of those cookies in this document. Their use will be entailed when this site includes sections accessible only to "registered users." However, "Email List Registration" is now, and will continue to be a separate, distinct issue from "Site Registration" and/or "Customer Registration." Policies for Email List Registration as explained above, will remain the same in future.

Security and Communication with Clementines.com

As is generally recognized, there is little that is absolutely secure about ordinary email communication on the Internet. Your email registration is sent to us utilizing ordinary email. The script that generates the email in our email list signup is secure, however, and any information stored on our Host's servers is secured. The email registration list that we maintain is stored only on our private client computers, not on the Host's server computers.

We have no control over or responsibility for the security of ordinary email sent over the Internets, as when a user composes a message to us using his or her own email client program and sends it via his or her own ISP. We insist that customers and others not use email for any sensitive personal information such as name, address and financial information, including credit card numbers. If use of Clementines.com website co-occurs with making a purchase by telephone from Clementine, Shoes, Bags, & Accessories, Inc., please take advantage of the security offered by other media such as telephone connections for any and all sensitive information.

In future, we will provide secure forms for the entry of sensitive customer information as it is needed. This document will be updated at that time. Clementines.com will also be using secure servers for email on its end, but will continue to insist that sensitive information not be included in emails. Clementines.com will not solicit personal or financial or registration information, passwords, etc., via email. If you receive any communication, appearing to be from Clementines.com, which does request any such information, you are advised to treat such email as fraud or an attempted fraud. Do not reply or respond to it in any way, but rather report it to any appropriate authority.
